Looking for the perfect beachside cottage? What about a resort that really knows how to pamper you? From high-class hotels to quaint guesthouses, accommodation options truly run the gamut on these islands. Travelers should be aware that while many resorts and hotels in the Bahamas advertise themselves as "first class", not all visitors agree with that description. "Deluxe" is another term that is often misused or overused, so book wisely. You may want to explore all of your options before deciding on a hotel or resort.
Keep in mind that there are plenty of things you can to do cut costs when booking at some of the more luxurious resorts. Whether you simply book for the off-season (mid-April through mid-December) when prices are cut between 20 and 60 percent, or just book well in advance, you can certainly save a little. Another option is to book a package deal; these will sometimes includes airfare. You can ask each hotel or airline about specific specials.
While most deluxe resort hotels in the Bahamas have air conditioning, smaller hotels generally do not. Especially in the Out Islands, you will most likely be cooled by fans rather than air conditioning units. If this is an important factor in your decision, be sure to check in advance. The Out Islands do have some resorts, but they are not the huge all-inclusives surrounded by nightlife that you'll see around Nassau or on Grand Bahama. Hotels here are hideaways where you can enjoy a much more tranquil evening.
Guesthouses are the truly Bahamian way to stay in the islands. These are where the locals stay when they travel. Keep in mind that, like other guesthouses throughout the Caribbean, the term can mean almost anything. From roadside motels to small cottages with their own kitchens, you'll find all kinds of guesthouses in the Bahamas.
Even the most upscale resorts will each have their own style and flair, so a property's overall amenities should be closely considered before booking. Clicking on the hotels in the alphabetical list below is the simplest way to discover crucial details about these Bahamas accommodations.
