In the Bahamas it's easy to find something to do. From land to sea, there are plenty of activities to delight island visitors, no matter which islands they choose to see during their stay. Some of the most popular activities are snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and golfing.

Water Sports

Underwater beauty abounds at any of the islands' incredible offshore locations for snorkeling and diving. Learn about some of the top spots for snorkelers and divers as you plan your island vacation, and plan take a trip offshore with one of the many dive and snorkel tour operators you'll find throughout the islands.

Fishing is another popular activity for the nautically inclined. Charter boats are often available with a captain to take anglers out to popular fishing spots. And with so many fishing destinations available, there's plenty to do. If you love a challenge and have a bit of patience, you might choose to take on the bonefish in shallow flats, or spend some time reef fishing. Those looking to hook something bigger can try deep see fishing not far from shore.

Sports

On land, sports fans can try their hand at a game of golf. With plenty of courses, especially on Paradise Island and Grand Bahama, vacationers are never far from a great game of golf. In fact, with PGA pro tour stops in the Bahamas, travelers are assured of some of the world's best golf courses. Golfers who aren't so experienced can also get help with their game, as some locations offer pro lessons.

Tennis pros will delight in the over 100 courses that are available throughout the islands.  Many exist on hotel properties, and are free of charge for guests, while other are on public courts and even in tennis clubs.  If you are new to the sport, you can hire a tennis pro to show you the ropes; some resorts even offer an hour with their tennis staff for free.

You may find that you are more interested in being a spectator than actually participating in island sports.  The Bahamas have several national teams for sports such as cricket, football, baseball, and basketball.  If you are in the country during the teams regular seasons, plan to go support local sports by attending a game.

Shopping

The shopping in the Bahamas is as varied as the islands themselves.  Whether you are looking for a deal on designer duds or a hand crafted souvnier, you'll find it in the Bahamas.  Nassau on New Providence is great for shopping for high end products, but it is also home to a well-known straw market.  Atlantis on Paradise Island is where you will likely find the best deals on brand names, and Freeport on Grand Bahama is home to the International Bazaar.  The Out Islands are not usually frequented for shopping purposes alone, but you may be able to find some shops with locally made products worth your while.

Events and Festivals

The Bahamas celebrates dozens of events throughout the year, so chances are there will be something going on during your stay.  Junkanoo is the celebration that draws the largest crowd, as locals and visitors alike take to the streets in the early morning hours of December 26th to celebrate the islands' African roots.
