The possibility of making thousands of dollars in one night attracts many vacationers to the glitz and glamor of the casinos of the Bahamas. Gambling in the Bahamas combines the excitement and high-stakes of the casinos in Las Vegas with the tropical atmosphere of a true island paradise.

In the Bahamas, it is illegal for Bahamians to gamble, but tourists who are 18 years or older can gamble at any of the four island casinos.  Features of Bahamian casinos include slot machines and live gaming tables.  One game of note is the popular Caribbean card game Caribbean stud poker.

Caribbean Stud Poker

Caribbean stud poker was created in the 1980s, so it is a relatively new game in the region. The game is a blend of blackjack and poker, and some say it was invented by a few cruise ship directors who were looking for a good way to make some money with its high house advantage.  Travelers should remember this when placing their bets.
