A Brush with Wilma Hurricane Wilma, after devastating the Mexican Caribbean and southern Florida, headed back out into the Atlantic Ocean that brewed the deadly storm. Before heading up the eastern seaboard of the United States, the storm brought it's irate weather conditions upon The Bahamas. Airports, schools, and government buildings all closed as the storm approached the northern part of the islands. The most significant damage was the 100 houses destroyed by the storm. All airports have now reopened. Old Bahama Bay hotel has sustained moderate damage to it's facilities, and expects to reopen within 30 days.
